Letter to the Editor

Dear Readers
Imagine my relief and happiness to read all those letters of tremendous
support for our sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, sisters, and
brothers who are giving their all for those of us back here in the
USA. This outpouring assures me that all you loving and grateful
people will write your representatives, Bob Bennett, Orrin Hatch,
and Chris Canon, to express your shock and DISGUST for the dirty,
underhanded stab in the back betrayal of our troops by reducing
President Bush's proposed budget for veterans by about $844 million
in health care and an additional $463 million in benefit programs
including disability compensation, vocational rehabilitation, education
survivor's benefits, and pension programs from next year's budget.
In addition to these cuts, the GOP is cutting $15 billion from the
veteran programs over the next 10 years. Way to go, congress. Be
sure and give that wealthy 3% of Americans the largest tax benefit
in history, while screwing the very people who are risking their
lives 10,000 miles from home. What a country.
Well, people, those troops you have been professing all this love
and gratefulness for, are depending on YOU to guard their backs
against these kinds of dirty tricks that, unfortunately, those maggots
in congress are famous for.
I did not support the Vietnam war. I don't support this war. But
I will not stand by silently while our elected representatives betray
the brave men and women who are making this huge sacrifice for this
country.
Our government lied to us about Vietnam, and they are being "economical
with the truth" about this war as well. This administration
has no proof that Saddam had anything to do with 9/11. That act
of war on the USA was committed by Osama bin Forgotten. The hijackers,
were mostly Saudi, and a few Egyptians.. NO Iraqis. Osama and Al
Qaeda loathe Saddam, who is a secular tyrant, not a religious one.
They are thrilled we are taking him out, so they may have more opportunity
to recruit in Iraq, which they could not do with Saddam in power.
Remember, nowhere in the constitution does it advocate supporting
your elected officials because we are at war. No.. THAT idea comes
straight out of George Orwell's "1984". Here is what a
real patriot had to say about it:
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president,
or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not
only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the
American public." Teddy Roosevelt
"Beware the military industrial complex." Dwight Eisenhower
Fascism is when government and corporations merge
Benito
Mussolini
WRITE your representatives. DEMAND an explanation of their treatment
of our vets. Or best of all
tell them, by their craven acts
of cowardice in the face of a war none of THEIR children are fighting
in, they have LOST YOUR VOTE.
